Peachy Canyon

Peachy Canyon is a family-owned and operated winery in beautiful Paso Robles on California’s Central Coast.

Founded by Doug and Nancy Beckett in 1988, Peachy Canyon has long been praised as a producer of award winning California wines that exemplify respect for terroir and dedicated winemaking.

Zinfandel has long been Peachy Canyon’s flagship varietal—oftentimes with multiple vineyard designates in production. These red Zinfandels range from elegant and restrained to fruit forward, each an exemplary call to its own terroir. With these exemplary Zins Peachy Canyon has been instrumental in establishing Paso Robles’ reputation as a key California wine region.

Biography

Nancy and Doug Beckett moved from Oceanside, CA to Paso Robles in 1982; their two sons Josh and Jake were 8 and 6 years old respectively at the time. For a couple of years Doug worked as a carpenter building and restoring barns. But in 1984 his love of wine lead him to a job making wine with Pat Wheeler at Tobias Winery (now Ecluse). By 1988 Doug felt it was time to go out on his own and he founded Peachy Canyon Winery on Peachy Canyon Road (now Minassian Young). While Doug was making and selling wine, Nancy was busy teaching Paso Robles how to dance, for several years through the Paso Robles Parks and Recreation, until 1991 when she became part owner of Class Act Dance Studio. Nancy is still teaching dance.

Both Josh and Jake left Paso Robles to attend college. Josh studied English Literature at the University of San Diego and Jake studied Cultural Anthropology at Cal State Stanislaus. When they left for college neither of the Beckett sons anticipated a career in the wine industry, but it was not long after they graduated college that they had migrated back to Paso Robles to join their father in the family business, Josh in 1998 and Jake in 2000.

In 2008 Josh and Jake started their own winery, Chronic Cellars. In 2010 they left Peachy Canyon to dedicate themselves to Chronic Cellars full-time. They were so successful that they were approached by WX Brands to purchase Chronic Cellars. When Doug decided he was ready to retire, his sons returned to take the reins in April of 2019. Jake is Peachy Canyon’s General Manager and Josh has reprised his former role as Winemaker and Director of Viticulture.
