The Character

Aromas Black fruit, earth, oregano
Tasting Notes Dark purple color with blueish hues, slight opaque and greatly concentrated. The aromas are classic with an array of fruits, ranging from black cherries to black plums and ripe blackberries, and is followed by scents of dry earth and dried oregano. The palate has brighter fruits framed by some ripe but firm tannins. A good acidity permeates throughout with an assertive finish.

The Story

Steel Plow vineyard is planted into 11 acres of Rhone varietals: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Viognier. It is located in the heart of Sonoma Valley, the land of crescent moons. To realize our vision for Edaphos, we work with Grenache from Block 3 and Block 10 focusing specifically on clones that express the more ethereal characteristics of the varietal.

About Edaphos

Brand Story

The Greek word Edaphos translates as dirt, soil, or ground; we chose this word because these wines are of their place. At Edaphos, we produce unique, small-lot, single-vineyard bottlings of remarkable varietals in California. Our vineyards are located throughout Sonoma and Mendocino counties.
We start with sustainable, organic, and biodynamic farming in the vineyards, continue with minimal intervention in the cellar, and share full transparency of process. These wines are made with intention and with curiosity; we encourage you to try them in the same light.
