The Story

Syrah in cold-climates grows far more differently than warmer climates and has a style more closely associated with the cold and windy Northern Rhône in France centering around towns like St. Joseph, Cornas and Crozes-Hermitage. It is more non-fruited than the robust styles you see in warmer areas and offers so much more in flavor, spice, palate presence and sophistication.
This is a blend from five different Syrah selection and is a classic example of cold-climate Syrah. It is immediately full of dark brambly fruits, dark chocolate, lavender and dried herbs. It is round, sublime and generous on the palate. Between the wonderful mélange of beguiling aromas and the mouth-filling palate, this wine provides immense pleasure and a very satiating experience. Will drink well now through 2035.

About Gainey Estate

Producer Story

Gainey Vineyard is the culmination of a family heritage that runs deep in the Santa Barbara wine country. Gainey’s story in the Santa Ynez Valley begins more than 60 years ago when the Gainey family, acquired 1,800 acres of undeveloped land. In 1984, vines were planted and Gainey Vineyard was born. We now have over 60 acres of vineyard at the “Home Ranch" and have since acquired two additional estate vineyards of 100 acres in the Santa Rita Hills.

We are proudly one of the founding families in the valley and are still 100% family owned and operated for 4 generations.
