The Story

Viña Arana was first released in 1974 and is one of the classic wines of La Rioja Alta, S.A. It was named in honor of Don José María de Arana y Aizpurúa, one of the founding families of the winery.

Historically positioned between Viña Alberdi and the Gran Reservas, Viña Arana stood out for its finesse, freshness, and earlier drinking style, while still maintaining the elegance and aging potential typical of the house.

In 2012, Viña Arana evolved into Viña Arana Gran Reserva, reflecting an even greater commitment to quality and longevity. It is now made only in exceptional vintages, primarily from Tempranillo and Graciano, and undergoes extended aging in American oak and in bottle.

This evolution elevated Viña Arana into the Gran Reserva category, reinforcing its identity as a wine of refinement, balance, and complexity, deeply rooted in the tradition and excellence of La Rioja Alta, S.A.
