The Character
Tasting Notes " It's medium ruby-purple in the glass and has a fragrant nose of warm cinnamon, mushrooms, moss-covered bark, rhubarb and red and black berries with notions of lilac and tangerine peel. It’s medium-bodied, silky and loaded with perfumed fruit layers, with a frame of chocolate-textured tannins and juicy acidity begging you to take another sip, finishing very long and very layered." Erin Brooks, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, December 2019
Overall Deep & rich
Mouthfeel Medium to full bodied
Aromas mulled black fruit, licorice, roasted herbs, chocolate, floral
Pairings Roasted Duck Breast, Gruyere
Awards 93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2017), 93 Wine Enthusiast (2017), 93 Jeb Dunnuck (2017)
The Story
The 2017 Pinot Noir Klopp Ranch comes mainly from vines planted in the late 1980s in Goldridge soils, mostly Pommard clone, plus some younger vines planted to Dijon clones. Grower Ted Klopp and Merry worked together as partners for more than a decade, collaborating on decisions that achieve the rich berry flavor and firm structure of this wine. His vineyard, located on the Laguna Ridge, is exceptional; the fine sandy soil provides excellent drainage, and his exacting vineyard practices produce remarkable intensity, year after year.

About Merry Edwards
Brand Story
As one of California’s first women winemakers, Merry began her career at Mount Eden Vineyards in 1974. At home in the Russian River Valley since 1977, Merry Edwards has explored its hills, pockets, slopes & hollows, discovering small sites where choosing the right rootstock, clone & farming techniques can produce exceptional grapes. This led her in 1996 to purchase land in the Sebastopol Hills. In 2019, Maison Louis Roederer acquired the Merry Edwards Winery. Frédéric Rouzaud, owner & President, is focused on ensuring continuity & adhering to the core values by which both wineries are connected: producing wines emblematic of their terroirs, all the while pushing the boundaries of land stewardship.
