The Character

Overall Bright, fruit forward
Aromas Very ripe red berries

Tasting Notes Lots of bright, very ripe red-berry character to this medium-bodied red with a light but firm tannin framework to the palate. But the fresh fruit pushes through to the end. Great minerality, turns savory just at the end.
Selling Point A super-Tuscan from Montalcino
Pairings Roast meat, aged cheeses and pasta
Awards 92pts James Suckling
Sustainability Certified Biodynamic

The Story

The Amore e Follia (Love is crazy) vineyard has had an interesting past. When it was originally planted it was meant to be a Brunello vineyard. After a few harvests it was apparent that Sangiovese did not like the bottom part of this vineyard and would not ripen. Looking for an earlier ripening varietal, the winery planted Merlot, which only liked the very bottom of the vineyard. Finally they tried Syrah and the Syrah was extremely happy at the bottom of this vineyard.

About Podere le Ripi

Brand Story

The estate has been called Podere Le Ripi since the year 1200 when the area was inhabited by shepherds and farmers. In 1997, I bought these 54 hectares
of pure, unspoilt and wild land from a Sardinian shepherd and three years later began planting the first vines. In fact, I had just wanted to buy a lovely house in
Tuscany but I fell in love so deeply with this untouched landscape that I became a wine-grower.
