Garmon Continental
With Garmón Continental, the García family completes its trilogy of wineries in the Duero Valley - Mauro (Tudela de Duero) and San Román (Toro) - in a passionate and exclusive family-run project focusing on the Tempranillo variety with a production that will not be more than 80,000 bottles a year.
Garmón is produced from a selection of 30 to 80-year-old vines grown in smallholdings in five municipalities situated in the eastern part of the Ribera del Duero region: La Aguilera, Tubilla, Baños, Moradillo and Anguix. Added to these are the new vines which were planted in 2018 in Valbuena and Olivares de Duero, the location of the new winery.
At between 850 and 1,000 metres, the altitude of these vineyards as well as the freshness and slow ripening in these poor soils, mostly calcareous clay, give the resulting wines nerve, depth, and controlled maturity.
Philosophy
Since 2014, Garmón Continental has been committed to ancestral, smallholder viticulture based on old, low yield vineyards and native clones situated in high, cool, and continental riverside areas with a long maturity cycle and late harvest season. These factors condition the idiosyncrasy of this elegant and juicy red wine with an imposing, refined fruit expression.
