The Origin: 1791 the Dominicans grounded the Mission of Santo Tomas de Aquino.
The history of wines in Mexico is naturally linked
to the Missionaries who introduced the vines,
olive trees and other Mediterranean species
when they arrived to Baja California, and when
the history of Santo Tomas began.
1888: Francisco Andonaegui, Italian and Miguel Ormat, Spanish; just after Ensenada was designated the capital of Baja California acquired this property of 140 hectares and founded Bodegas de Santo Tomas. Producing at that time white, red, muscatel and port type wines.
