Nora
Viña Nora's location helps extract more of the Albariño variety's potential as well as capture the maximum expression of the land and its landscape in the wine. : The winemaking process of Viña Nora wines is noted for its intention of not spoiling the delicate nature of the variety. This is achieved by employing very meticulous pressing, clearing and partial barrel/vat fermentation processes, and leaving the wine on the lees for months, that maintain the subtle aromas and fragility of the Albariño variety which gives it more mouthweight feel, which many other albarino's fail to achieve. This uniqueness is what drives us and our customers to purchase the wine.
Philosophy
We do not rush to have our Albariño first in the market. We work the wine on the lees for several months, and do not use centrifuges to hasten the winemaking process. This gives us a wine bright and fresh with great mouthfeel and length, something that has been our benchmark since inception.
Biography
The winemaker is Alexia Luca de Tena who is one of several women winemakers in Rias Baixas being heralded by international critics and, perhaps more important, by domestic aficionados for creating innovative white wines as they break stereotypes. "Every wine has a moment, and this is the perfect time for the Rias Baixas," says Luca de Tena.
Viña Nora was born in 2002 and it is perched on a natural terrace looking out on River Miño. Bodegas Viña Nora is located in the municipality of As Neves, within the winegrowing region of Condado do Tea, bordering Portugal. Condado do Tea is the only inland region out of the five regions that compose RÃas Baixas. This
unique location is noted for its granite soils with plentiful cobbles and a rainfall much lower than the region's average, and it favors an early and complete maturation of the grape. As a result, we are able to extract more of the variety's potential and a maximum expression of the land.
