Raimat
Raimat has over a century of history behind it, being the driving winery of the D.O. Costers del Segre. In 1914, Manuel Raventós acquired a large expanse of arid land of nearly 3,000 hectares where the ruins of a castle stood, which over time would turn it into the first wine-growing colony in Europe. The winery is the result of two singular projects: in 1918, the so-called cathedral of wine was born, created by Joan Rubió, a disciple of GaudÃ; and in 1998, Domingo Triay erected the current building, a temple integrated into the landscape.Hunting is prohibited in the vineyards of Raimat, which is why the area is full of life: birds, rabbits, partridges, foxes, etc., because everyone plays a fundamental role in this delicate balance. The vineyard and the grape are part of this whole, and that's why cultivation techniques must aim to respect this balance. For this reason, Raimat manages to offer high-quality wines with a unique personality from grapes coming exclusively from its own estate, always underpinned by the utmost respect and conservation of the environment.
Philosophy
In Raimat, there is careful work to maintain the balance between the environment and the activities being carried out. The impact on the land is reduced by integrating all resources into production, minimizing waste creation, sorting it, and recycling it.Maintaining the natural balance is the essence of Raimat. Both in the winery and in the vineyards, various systems are implemented to advance towards energy efficiency and to minimize the carbon footprint as much as possible, with a focus on a 100% organic production model. Innovation and experimentation are dedicated to achieving excellence: the wine is of the highest quality and faithfully expresses the territory from which it comes.
Raimat has 2,245 hectares of organically certified vineyards, where a wide variety of grape varieties are carefully cultivated: among white grapes, the main and most iconic is Chardonnay, followed by Xarel·lo, and other minor ones like Garnacha Blanca, Sauvignon Blanc, or Albariño; among red grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon is the flagship, and to a lesser extent, Tempranillo, Garnacha, or Merlot.
