The Story

From the Delaire Graff Estate in South Africa, the grapes were handpicked in the early hours from the broader Western Cape region. Covering a vast area of over 400 kms, vineyards were selected from several premium wine regions in an effort to showcase the unique diversity in flavor profiles available within the Western Cape. Characterized by typical dry conditions and moderate temperatures, favorable conditions continued throughout the season for this vintage. Despite smaller berries and lighter crop stemming from the windy conditions — grapes showed good acidity and balanced sugar delivering well concentrated and structured wines.

The Delaire Graff Estate vineyard, with 15-year-old vines, is situated at an elevation of 420 meters above sea level. The vineyard is oriented east to west with a north-facing aspect, and the soil is composed of Hutton Leaf, a locally recognized type. Benefiting from a Mediterranean climate, the growing season began with an unusually cold and wet start, promoting strong vine dormancy. This was followed by an early, warm January that accelerated ripening. The resulting harvest delivered wines impressive structure, and higher-than-average acidity, marking a promising vintage.
