PEPE RAVENTÓS’ MOST PERSONAL AND INTIMATE WINES



WELCOME TO THIS GARAGE OF INNOVATION AND LEARNING


The Vins Pepe Raventós arise from our passion for viticulture and the selection of native grape varieties in unique and different soils that give these wines the breadth and complexity that we seek.


His passion for constant innovation led Pepe Raventós and the young team of winemakers at Raventós i Blanc to vinify the first natural wines in his home garage; towards the end of 2013.


After a year, in 2014, he decided that this garage should be a small winery for all these micro vinifications and ancestral methods. And so Vins Pepe Raventos were born.


Also, under his name he created his most intimate sparkling wine: Mas del Serral.


Unique plots: less than 2 ha, vines of more than 40 years old, only native varieties.



FOUR EMBLEMATIC PLOTS


In both, the vineyard and the cellar, Pepe decided to go to the limit and in the garage of the Mas del Serral- started working four different plots that were fermented separately and naturally: Del Mas Vineyard, Del Noguer Vineyard and Terrasses del Serral Vineyard. The Mas del Serral comes from our most emblematic vineyard Clos del Serral.


Pepe Raventós’ wines are born from his passion for viticulture and ancestral methods, as well as the selection of native grape varieties in unique soils, such as Xarel·lo and Bastard Negre.


Maximum attention is focused on the vineyards, working meticulously throughout the whole agricultural year, only man and animal.



VINYA DEL MAS


Calcareous and clay soils, vines over 50 years old and the Surface area is 0.57 ha. Only old xarel·los.



VINYA DEL NOGUER ALT


Vineyard, with clay and limestone soils, planted in 1970 with goblet-trained vines and a surface area of 1.48 ha. Only xarel·lo grapes.



TERRASSES DEL SERRAL


Terrasses del Serral Vineyard, calcareous soil with clay-loam texture, planted in 1974 with goblet-trained vines and a surface area of 0.63 ha. Bastard Negre grape.



CLOS DEL SERRAL


1.92Ha of vineyards -Xarel·lo and Bastard Negre vines that have been co-planted since 1954. Its soils are calcareous with a large number of marine fossils.



ALL OF THIS WORK IN THE VINEYARD IS DONE BY HAND AND, WHEN REQUIRED, WITH THE HELP OF HORSES.



ORGANIC, BIODYNAMIC, ANIMAL TRACTION
The vines are cared for on a strictly organic and biodynamic basis respecting the soil, the vineyards and its ecosystem in order to develop and maintain a balanced environment. We work with spontaneous and sown plant covers.


We work according to the biodynamic principles following the lunar calendar for the work on the vines, and we make our own preparations. We apply compost of the animals of our little farm.


The four plots of Vins Pepe Raventós are taken care exclusively by hand and with the help of animal traction. We believe deeply in the benefits of animal traction. And in any practice that helps to reduce pollution and improve our environment.


Authentic, natural, well-balanced wines, allowing the terroir to fully express its intrinsic nature.



NATURAL WINES
The willingness to show his wines as they are encouraged him to make wine without sulfites or additives as a way of working and understanding life.
Since the grapes have matured in a healthy way, the wine can be allowed to develop with minimal intervention in the cellar; yeast, sugar, chemicals, or temperature control are not used in winemaking, making the process as natural as possible. This wine project began with the pursuit of innovation and experimentation, so ancestral techniques are used combined with new technologies, such as the use of ovoid eggs, oak barrels, qvevir or ceramic amphorae.



CLOS DEL SERRAL
In 2005, the experience acquired with top oenologists led Pepe Raventós to conclude that the Clos del Serral, a small plot of the family estate, would be the ideal habitat for the elaboration of an exceptional sparkling wine.


Clos del Serral is, without a doubt, the most emblematic plot of the family estate. With a unique microclimate due to its north/northwest orientation; a slight slope and thanks to the fact that it is protected by the Serral forest. Its soils, in addition, are calcareous with a large number of marine fossils that provide a unique mineral typicity in the mouth.


These 1.92 ha of vineyards (Xarel·lo and Bastard Negre vines that have been co-planted since 1954) are only cared by man with the help of our two horses, the grapes are harvested with boxes and a second selection grain by grain takes place in Mas del Seral Garage; the wine ends with a quiet rest of 100 months on its lees.
