The Character

Overall Perfumed and elegant
Aromas Meyer lemon, white pineapple, lime zest, white blossoms, yellow stone fruit, marzipan, lemongrass
Mouthfeel Silky yet lively
Tasting Notes The stunning 2022 Merry Edwards Sauvignon Blanc is the result of impeccable farming along with our practices of barrel fermentation and lees-stirring. The maritime influence at our vineyards means that even when we have unprecedented heat, as we did in 2022, our grapes are able to hold onto delicate flavors and juicy acidity. This wine opens with enticing aromas of Meyer lemon, white pineapple, lime zest and white blossoms. On the palate, ripe yellow stone fruit and lemon grass mingle with notes of honeydew and marzipan. The texture is silky, but the bright acidity keeps the wine fresh and lively. — Winemaker Heidi von der Mehden
Pairings Asian-Style Chicken Salad, Linguine and Clams
Awards 95pts Wine Spectator, 94pts Tasting Panel
Sustainability Certified Sustainable

The Story

The Russian River Valley is an ideal spot to grow Sauvignon Blanc. Warm days and cool nights allow the grapes to hold onto their natural acidity. While 2019 was our last wet growing season, with three “atmospheric rivers” in May, it did not affect the Sauvignon Blanc flowering or set. It did produce very vigorous vine growth, which led us to be proactive with our canopy management in order to get the ripe tropical flavors we aim for in our Sauvignon Blanc. Barrel fermentation in 100 percent French oak, 18 percent new, plus twice-weekly lees stirring helped build body and lend a hint of sweet oak.

About Merry Edwards

Brand Story

As one of California’s first women winemakers, Merry began her career at Mount Eden Vineyards in 1974. At home in the Russian River Valley since 1977, Merry Edwards has explored its hills, pockets, slopes & hollows, discovering small sites where choosing the right rootstock, clone & farming techniques can produce exceptional grapes. This led her in 1996 to purchase land in the Sebastopol Hills. In 2019, Maison Louis Roederer acquired the Merry Edwards Winery. Frédéric Rouzaud, owner & President, is focused on ensuring continuity & adhering to the core values by which both wineries are connected: producing wines emblematic of their terroirs, all the while pushing the boundaries of land stewardship.
