The Story

Pinot Grigio has been cultivated for centuries in Friuli, with results of great expressive depth especially in the hills, where this famous white acquires intense aromas and good concentration. Given its perfect adaptation to the territory and the character it manages to express, Pinot Grigio can be provocatively considered a new native.
“Ponca” is the typical element of the soil: a sedimentary formation made of clayey marl alternating with layers of sandstone. The location of the vineyards on terracings, the Ronchi (top of the hills), and the perfect exposure allow the full ripening of the grapes. Ventilation is good thanks to the “Bora” and the winds coming from the Adriatico Sea, and remarkable diurnal swings preserve freshness of the grapes.

About Torre Rosazza

Brand Story

Torre Rosazza lies in the heart of an area dedicated to vine-growing since ancient times, the Colli Friuli Orientali DOC, the easternmost appellation in Italy. Its name derives from ‘Turis Rusaceae’ or Tower of Roses and the estate includes the 18th-century Palazzo De’ Marchi, now converted into a winery with cellar and guest rooms.
The property is centered on two natural amphitheaters of Eocene marl that are terraced and well exposed to the sun. Torre Rosazza covers a total of 110 hectares of which 90 are planted to vines in a truly prime location surrounded by the top producers of the region. The winery is known for its beautifully elegant whites including the award-winning Pinot Grigio, and its focus on native varieties.
