Nada Giuseppe
In 1900, a forefather of Giuseppe Nada bought a vineyard, orchard, and a small home on a steep hillside in the commune of Treiso in the cru of Casot in Piedmont. In 1964 Giuseppe’s father established a winery there; two years later the DOC of Barbaresco was named.
Today, the Nada family farms almost 15 acres of grapes. These grow primarily in the cru of Marcarini at 325 meters and the cru of Casot at 315 meters, both flanking either side of the main ridge leading to Trieso, which is the highest among Barbaresco’s three main communes.
Enrico Nada officially took over in 2008 and quickly eliminated additions of SO2 during fermentation (only sulfuring lightly at bottling), reduced filtration to a minimum, and converted all farming to organic. His sister, Barbara, runs the administrative side of the business and her son, Fabio recently joined the family business, working in both the vines and the cellar.
The goal, across the range, is to create wines that embody balance, complexity and harmony.
