The Story
"UN AMOUR" — It encapsulates a profound emotion. It speaks to our "love" for Syrah. But the passion of these 4th generation winemakers isn't limited to just the wine itself. They're dedicated eco-romantics, obsessively committed to sustainable and biodynamic farming. Every vine, a stone’s throw from the sea, is tended to with the planet in mind. Immersing in this wine, one can taste not just the
grapes, but the very soil and soul the vines sprang from. Amidst a sea of wine choices, this grape, with its crunchy nuances and oceanic whispers, has stolen our hearts. Here's to a wine that loves our planet as much as we adore every sip.
In the very south of the Rhone Valley, there are 60 hectares of the Costieres de Nimes AOC where siblings François and Fanny Boyer craft magic in a bottle. While François grows premium, Organic and Demeter Certified Biodynamic grapes, Fanny transforms them into award winning wines - a partnership creating wine perfection.
Château Beaubois covers a total of 60 hectares in the Costieres de Nimes region of the Southern Rhone Valley. Bordering the marshy Camargue plane and influenced by the nearby Cevennes mountain rage, nature plays a key role in wine production and style. The southern temperatures create a Mediterranean climate, but the strong Mistral wind cools at the hottest hours. The cold, dry and fierce Mistral wind blows down from the north along the lower Rhône River valley toward the Mediterranean Sea. This hot climate sucks in the crisp air of the sea and brings freshness and humidity throughout the day. A marshy plain called the Petite Camargue provides direct exposure of the vineyards to the sea, creating a unique microclimate for these Biodynamic Rhone wines.
The terroir is composed of Villafranchian pebbles which are detached from the Haut Brianconnais in the Alpes during the Quaternary. The combination of the rocks maintaining heat, then being cooled by the Mistral winds from the north creates an oven effect, causing warm air to rise and bring the cool sea breeze into the vineyards.
About Ch Beaubois
Producer Story
Château Beaubois was first established as a working winery from 1920-1947 by Margueritte and René Mouret. He was a country doctor on horse, and she was one of the first women in the region to manage a winery. “They have registered the first pages of our family history on this terroir. Leaving the cooperative in order to vinify the first parcels of the winery.” The Boyer family acquired this Domaine in 1920 and they are celebrating their 100th anniversary in 2020.
