The Story

All winemaking takes place under the direction and supervision of Piedra Negra Winery's founder, Francios Lurton, a world-renowned 5th generation "flying winemaker" (Argentina, Chile, France, Spain, and Portugal).
Fruit for this wine is sourced from two different vineyard areas - Uco Valley and Agrelo. The high elevation (3600ft) and alluvial, stony soil of the Uco Valley brings intense fruit flavors. The richer soils and older vines of Agrelo lead to softer tannins in the wine.

About Ruta 22

Producer Story

450 years ago, Argentinian roads or "rutas" were plagued by bandits. The noblest "gauchos", brave and skilled horsemen, were recruited to Mendoza to protect the precious grapes of the region. And so was born Ruta 22.
