The Story

Though Barolo is the king of wine, Barbera is the most consumed, grown, and in some ways intrinsic to the culture of Piemonte. The same hills that fascinated Roberto Voerzio and inspired him to craft legendary Barolo also stirred his romantic notes - Barbera had to be grown with the same meticulous passion. He took several steps in his process that many other winemakers would never consider. The Pozzo dell'Annunziata, grown in the same prestigious commune alongside the lionized Nebbiolo reflects the fleeting nature of time. The Annunziata vineyards were once filled with Barbera, grown by farmers aiming to enjoy their nights with bright red glasses. Though Nebbiolo's more serious nature leads to worldwide recognition, Voerzio is convinced that equivalent effort will yield attention for his Barbera. Make no mistake, this wine is dazzling in its complexity; It is more than a "serious" wine.
