The Story
Vrede Pinot Noir is Storm Wines’ most refined expression of site, sourced from a northeast-facing vineyard in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley with Bokkeveld shale and 16-year-old vines. Hand-harvested and minimally handled, the wine undergoes native fermentation with a touch of whole bunch. Aging spans six vintages for added depth. The result is a Pinot of perfume, purity, and precision -- layered with red fruit, rose, spice, and the quiet power of Cape terroir.

After 12 vintages in Hemel-en-Aarde, Hannes Storm founded Storm Wines to express the region’s unique terroirs through site-specific Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Together with his wife Nathalia, Storm handcrafts wines from all three Hemel-en-Aarde appellations—Valley, Upper Valley, and Ridge—each with distinct soils and microclimates. Farming is minimal-intervention and production is small. With a focus on purity, precision, and Old World restraint, Storm Wines captures the cool-climate elegance of South Africa’s premier Pinot and Chardonnay region.
