The Story
Santiago Ruiz was finally able to dedicate himself to his true vocation when he was 70 years old, after retiring from his job as machinery and naval insurance salesman. Passionate about work in the winery, his innate curiosity let him to centre his efforts on improving the production process for Galician white wine, incorporating new innovations, such as the use of cooling and stainless steel tanks, in a constant effort to exalt the wines of his region.
A label with history: More than 50 years ago, Isabel Ruiz, Santiago's eldest daughter, celebrated her wedding on the family estate. To help the guests find their way to the winery in San Miguel de Tabagón, she decided to draw them a map. Her father was delighted with this little detail, which we can still see today on the label of the Santiago Ruiz bottle.

Santiago Ruiz's maternal grandfather was one of the first to elaborate and label wines in Galicia, founding his own winery in 1860. Upon retiring at the age of 70, Santiago Ruiz devoted to his true vocation following his ancestor’s tradition. In 1984 he acquired the first stainless steel tanks in the region in order to modernize the winery, a 17th century building now a house-museum. The new winery, with the most advanced technology was built in the middle of the 94 acres vineyard in 2007.
