Winemaking The wine is aged for 16 months in new American oak barrels made by our in-house coopers (60%) and in French oak barrels that have previously contained two wines (40%). We carried out three traditional rackings by candlelight, from barrel to barrel, to remove the sediment by hand and to avoid aggressive filtering. Bottled in November 2022.

The Character

Mouthfeel Red fruit, spicy aromas of vanilla, caramel, cedar

Tasting Notes Vivid cherry red color with medium-high depth and an intense ruby hue at the rim. On the nose, it surprises with its high aromatic intensity, characteristic of Rioja Alavesa, with notes of blackberries, raspberries, and red cranberries. These intertwine with pleasant hints of clove, vanilla, roasted coffee, caramel, and sweet licorice. On the palate, it stands out for its balance, finesse, and pleasant mouthfeel, thanks to its soft, approachable tannins that lead to a fruit-forward, expressive finish. Fine, expressive, and well-balanced.

The Story

Finca San Martín is a wine made at Torre de Oña, using grapes from the estate's own vineyards in Rioja Alavesa. It is crafted mainly from Tempranillo and represents the freshest, fruitiest, and most approachable expression of the estate. The wine was created to offer a youthful and vibrant style, ideal for enjoying in its early years, while still reflecting the identity and quality of the Torre de Oña terroir. Our Tempranillo grapes are selected from our Vallecilla, Camino de Laguardia, San Martin I and San Martin II vineyards in the foothills of Sierra de Cantabria

Torre de Oña is located in Páganos, a small village near Laguardia in the Rioja Alavesa region. It was founded in 1995 with the aim of producing high-quality wines with a strong identity. In 1997, the winery was acquired by La Rioja Alta, S.A., which brought a clear vision: to make elegant, age-worthy wines that express the unique character of the vineyard. Since then, important investments have been made to improve both the vineyard and the winemaking facilities, always respecting the estate’s identity and commitment to quality.
